A Historical Note on the Australian Flag

The Australian flag has a rich history, dating back to 1901 when it was first flown. Did you know that the original design was chosen from a public competition? The winning entry, designed by Ivor Evans, featured the Union Jack in the upper left corner, the Southern Cross constellation on a blue background, and the Commonwealth Star below.
