Bosnia-Herzegovina Flag: A Symbol of Unity and Neutrality
The Bosnia-Herzegovina 4′ x 6′ Indoor Nylon Flag is a stunning representation of the country’s rich history and cultural heritage. This flag features a wide medium blue vertical band on the fly side with a yellow isosceles triangle abutting the band and the top of the flag. The remainder of the flag is medium blue with seven full five-pointed white stars and two half stars top and bottom along the hypotenuse of the triangle.
Meaning Behind the Design
- The three points of the triangle are understood to stand for the three constituent peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Bosniaks, Croats, and Serbs.
- The triangle is also seen to represent the map of Bosnia and Herzegovina which looks like a triangle or a heart, often referred to as the ‘heart-shaped nation’.
- The stars, representing Europe, are meant to be infinite in number and thus they continue from top to bottom.
Colors of Neutrality and Peace
- The flag features colors often associated with neutrality and peace – white, blue, and yellow.
- The colors yellow and blue are also seen to be taken from the flag of Europe, with the color blue originally based on the UN.
- They are also colors traditionally associated with Bosnia.
This 4′ x 6′ indoor nylon flag is perfect for display in your home, office, or educational institution. The pole sleeve and fringe add a touch of elegance to this already stunning flag.

A Historical Note
The flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina was adopted on February 21, 1998. It replaced the previous flag which featured a fleur-de-lis symbol, reminiscent of the country’s history under French and Austro-Hungarian rule. The new design aimed to represent the country’s cultural diversity and its path towards European integration.
