History Behind the Flag
The Progress Pride flag was developed in 2018 by American artist and designer Daniel Quasar. Building on the Rainbow-Pride flag from 1978 and the Transgender Pride Flag from 1999, Quasar combined both designs with black and brown colors to represent those living or who have died due to HIV/AIDS. The new flag’s chevron shape represents a need for forward movement.

A Brief History of the Progress Pride Flag
The Progress Pride flag has a rich history, dating back to its creation in 2018. Did you know that the original Rainbow-Pride flag, designed by Gilbert Baker in 1978, had eight colors? These colors represented sex, life, healing, sunlight, nature, art, harmony, and spirit. The Transgender Pride Flag, created by Monica Helms in 1999, added blue, pink, and white stripes to represent the transgender community. Daniel Quasar’s Progress Pride flag combined these designs with black and brown colors to create a powerful symbol of unity and acceptance. Today, our 4′ x 6′ Progress Pride flag is a popular way to showcase your support for the LGBTQ+ community.
